Solar Farm Rebates, RECs,STCs
What is a REC and STC?
Renewable Energy Certificates (STCs) are tradable certificates with true monetary value. Under the Renewable Energy (Electricity) Act 2000 (also known as the RET scheme), STCs are created when your solar is installed.
1 REC = is worth 1 megawatt hour of electricity generated by your solar PV power system
As of the 1st of January 2013 the STC calculator was reduced to a 1 multiplier, previous to that it was a 2 times multiplier which reduced the cost of a system by as much as $1,800, currently there is still an incentive of up to $2,700 for a 5kW solar system, this value reduces the smaller the unit you chose to install.
The price of STC changes according to market conditions, if the market at the time is strong so is the value of the STC which potentially increases the value of the incentive, if the market drops then like any other tradable QTY in the stock market the value will reduce.
The value of the STCs will alter depending on your zone this will be conveyed when we offer the solar farm quote.
The STC forms get signed by you so we can pass on the point of sale discount straight away, if you want to hold these certificates you are more than welcome to and trade them yourself at another point when the price may rise.
